BANGKOK (AP) – Tragic Plane Crash: In a tragic incident on Thursday afternoon, a small passenger plane crashed shortly after taking off from Bangkok’s main airport, Suvarnabhumi. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand confirmed that all nine people on board are feared dead.
The aircraft, a Cessna Caravan C208B operated by Thai Flying Service Company, was on a domestic flight headed to Trat, a coastal province approximately 275 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. It lost radio and radar contact just 11 minutes after departing from the airport at 2:46 p.m., while it was about 35 kilometers southeast of its departure point.
Rescue teams quickly reached the crash site, located in a mangrove swamp in Chachoengsao province, around 40 kilometers from the airport. Unfortunately, no survivors were found. Thai media reports indicate that the plane carried seven passengers and two pilots, including five Chinese tourists from Hong Kong, two Thai female crew members, and the Thai pilot and co-pilot.
The search for victims has been challenging due to the difficult, swampy terrain. Rescuers have recovered severely fragmented body parts, with efforts hampered by the onset of darkness and rising tides that further flooded the crash site.
The exact cause of the crash remains unknown, and investigations are underway to determine what led to this tragic event.
